Description
This handcrafted handle is made by Mr. Oikawa of Kikuhiro, a skilled metal artisan specializing in traditional tansu hardware.
Each piece is forged and finished by hand, giving it a strength, warmth, and character that cannot be replicated by mass-produced products.
The black finish is created using a traditional Japanese coloring technique that has been passed down for generations and incorporates silk in the finishing process. This method not only produces a rich, distinctive patina but also provides excellent resistance to rust and corrosion.
Today, craftsmen in Japan who continue to practice traditional forged metalworking have become increasingly rare, making each piece a testament to a valuable and enduring craft.
